The Eco Terra mattress is a hybrid mattress that combines latex with individually wrapped spring coils. This organic material is sourced from Asia. The company claims the Eco Terra meets the standards for both eco-friendly products and good sleep.
Eco Terra Mattress Review:However, it doesn’t carry any company certifications. This makes the product less attractive to consumers who care about environmental issues and the welfare of animals.
In addition to a lack of certifications, this mattress may be more expensive than you expect, so you need to check out other reviews before making your decision.

The Eco Terra is a hybrid mattress made with natural latex, organic cotton, and wrapped coils. It feels similar to a traditional innerspring bed, but has the added benefit of being chemical and toxin free.
In this review, I’m going to share my experience testing the Eco Terra mattress. I’ll share my personal thoughts on this bed, how it performed on our specialized sleep tests, the brand policies, and how it stacks up to some of its competitors.

Is the Eco Terra a Good Mattress for You?
Before we go over the details about the Eco Terra, you’ll want to know some of the basics to help you decide if it’s going to suit your sleep needs. Each individual has a different body weight, preferred sleeping position, and firmness preference, which means that not every mattress is going to work for every sleeper! Take a look at who I think might like the Eco Terra, and who should opt for a different mattress.
Who I recommend Eco Terra mattress for
- If you’re looking for an eco-friendly bed that’s made with natural materials, then you’ll be happy with the Eco Terra. Impressive credentials include Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified cotton and wool, as well as all-natural latex.
- Back and side combination sleepers will be pleased with this medium-soft mattress. It’s comfortable in a range of positions, and responsive enough to make switching positions a breeze.
- Hot sleepers will appreciate this beds breathable cotton cover, cooling latex comfort layer, and coils that provide lots of airflow.
I think the Eco Terra is great for back sleepers.
Who I don’t recommend Eco Terra mattress for
- I think stomach sleepers will find the Eco Terra too soft for their needs. Stomach sleepers need a firm mattress to keep their hips from sinking too far into the bed, which throws their spine out of alignment. I’d steer these sleepers to one of our best mattresses for stomach sleepers.
- If you’re on a budget, the Eco Terra might not be the right choice for you. This bed is on the slightly pricier side (though you can usually find a deal through our coupon page). I typically recommend budget shoppers go with one of our best mattresses under $1,000.
What Does the Eco Terra Mattress Feel Like?
Now that you know a bit about the Eco Terra, let’s find out what it feels like. When I talk about feel, I like to start with firmness, since that’s the bread and butter of mattress feel. If you know what firmness level you prefer, it can make figuring out if you’ll like a mattress a whole lot easier.
However, I’d like to highlight that firmness is subjective, and definitely depends on your body weight. Light sleepers typically need a soft mattress that will allow them to sink in, while heavier sleepers should opt for something firmer that will offer them the support they need. To determine the Eco Terra’s firmness, I polled a range of folks in the office, and took the average of our scores.
The Eco Terra is just a bit softer than the industry standard for medium-firm.
After laying on the Eco Terra for quite some time, my colleagues and I decided to give it a 6 out of 10 on the firmness scale. Compared to the industry standard of 6.5 for medium firmness, the Eco Terra is a medium-soft mattress.
I think this firmness level is great for both side sleepers and back sleepers who like a slightly softer feel. Side sleepers will find themselves cradled by this beds softness, which offers some nice give at the hips and shoulders. Back sleepers should find a nice mix of support and pressure relief on this bed. I also think this Eco Terra is great for combination sleepers. It’s a fairly bouncy mattress, which makes switching positions easier. I typically recommend combination sleepers go with a medium-soft to medium-firm mattress, since these beds are comfortable in a range of positions. The one group I wouldn’t recommend the Eco Terra to is stomach sleepers. These sleepers need a firm mattress that will keep their hips in line with their shoulders.
Wondering what gives the Eco Terra it’s feel? I’m going to go over the mattress’s materials in detail later in this review, but just to give you a general idea, it’s made with a combination of natural latex, which has a pressure-relieving yet responsive feel, and pocketed coils, which offer springy support.

Our Recommendation
Testing the Eco Terra Mattress
Now that you know how I feel about the Eco Terra, I want to give you a more objective perspective by sharing how it performed on our specialized sleep tests: pressure relief, motion transfer, and edge support. Don’t know what those terms mean? Don’t worry, I’ll describe them all below.
Pressure Relief
Pressure relief refers to how well a mattress alleviates tension at sensitive pressure points at the hips, shoulders, and lower back. This is especially important if you suffer from any pain in these areas, as you’ll want a mattress that’s going to cushion painful areas.
To test the Eco Terra’s pressure-relieving abilities, I used a handy pressure map. I laid this map down on the mattress and hopped on top of it. I tested it in different positions, and the map showed how much pressure was exerted. The map turns blue for the lowest pressure, green for second lowest, then yellow, and finally red for high pressure.
The Eco Terra’s pressure map results.
Back – The Eco Terra felt really comfortable while lying on my back! I felt that my weight was evenly distributed, and as you can see by the all blue pressure map, it was.
Side – I also really liked lying on my side on this bed. Though there is a bit of green at my hip on the pressure map, I still think this is a good result.
Stomach – This is the one position I don’t think is comfortable on this mattress. There is a bit of green at my hips, but I am quite a light sleeper (about 110 lbs) and heavier sleepers would likely experience more pressure. I’d recommend stomach sleepers go with the Medium-Firm option or a firmer mattress altogether.
Note for Heavy Sleepers (over 250 lbs) – As a reminder, I tested the Medium version of the Eco Terra, and I don’t think this version will feel supportive enough to heavier sleepers. I think they’ll sink down to the coil layer, which won’t be comfortable. If you’re on the heavier side, I’d recommend choosing the Medium-Firm option or checking out one of our best mattresses for heavy people.
Motion Transfer
A bed’s motion transfer is how much movement travels from one side of the bed to the other. A bed with good motion transfer can be especially important to couples, since they won’t want to feel their partner’s every movement.
To demonstrate motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb. steel ball from three different heights that are meant to mimic different movements you’re likely to experience in bed.
The Eco Terra has pretty good motion isolation.
I was impressed with the Eco Terra’s motion transfer. Typically, you have to sacrifice bounce for motion isolation, but not with this bed! For a latex hybrid mattress, this bed has pretty low motion transfer. I’d readily recommend this bed to couples, since they’re unlikely to be disturbed by a restless partner on this bed.
Note on Motion Transfer and Sex – The ideal mattress for couples is going to combine the best of both worlds: responsiveness (better for sex) and motion transfer (better for sleeping through a partner’s tossing and turning). Luckily, I would say the Eco Terra has both! You’ll find it easy to move around on this bed, and you probably won’t be disturbed by your partner getting up for a midnight snack.
Edge Support
Edge support refers to how well a bed holds up on the sides as compared to the center. A bed with good edge support can feel larger, since you can sleep all the way on the side without feeling it collapse beneath you. It also adds to a bed’s durability, as good edge support tends to prevent sagging.
I think the Eco Terra has great edge support. While lying on the sides, I felt almost as supported as I did in the center. This is a testament to this bed’s high-quality construction.
What is the Eco Mattress Made Of?
Now that we’ve discussed how the Eco Terra performs, let’s dive beneath the covers to see what’s inside this eco-friendly mattress.
The Eco Terra has an 11-inch height, has two distinct layers, and is made from organic materials.
The Eco Terra mattress in the Sleepopolis studio.
Cover – The Eco Terra has an organic cotton cover on the top of the mattress, and the side covers are made from organic wool. Both of these materials are GOTS certified, which means they’re ethically sourced and free from harmful chemicals. They have a soft and cozy feel, and are also super breathable.
Comfort Layer – Next up is a latex foam layer. It’s made from all-natural Talalay latex that is Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified, which means it’s free from harmful chemicals. This layer offers some nice responsiveness and pressure relief.
Support Layer – The Eco Terra get’s its support from a layer of quantum coils, which are made from upcycled steel. These steel coils are individually wrapped and provide some nice airflow through the mattress. This support layer helps promote a neutral spinal alignment and helps prevent back pain.

My Final Thoughts about the Eco Terra Mattress
Before I finish up this review, I want to recap some of the most important things you’ll want to consider before purchasing this mattress.
My favorite things about the Eco Terra mattress
I really like how eco-friendly this organic mattress is. From its recycled encased coils to its natural latex comfort layer, you’re getting a high-quality bed that’s great for you and the environment. I also think this latex mattress is great for a range of sleepers. Back, side, and back and side combination sleepers should find this bed comfortable. Finally, I think this is a nice choice for hot sleepers — a breathable organic cotton cover, cooling latex comfort layer, and airflow-promoting coils make for a supremely cool sleeping experience.
My Eco Terra mattress complaints
I have to be honest, there wasn’t much to complain about for this mattress! I think the Medium version is too soft for stomach sleepers, but the Medium-Firm version could suit their needs. This bed is on the pricier side, so if you’re on a budget, you might want to look elsewhere.

Eco Terra vs Avocado Green
- Both the Eco Terra and Avocado Green are hybrid natural latex mattresses.
- The Avocado Green comes in one firmness option, and it’s firmer than the Medium Eco Terra that I tested.

Eco Terra Mattress Reviews
The Eco Terra 11-inch all-natural latex mattress is one of the most affordable natural latex mattresses in America. The company’s latex is highly resilient, buoyant and contouring. This makes it a great choice for any bedroom. Its resiliency and contouring feel are also great features. This mattress has received positive reviews from consumers and is sold in over 100 countries. If you want a natural latex mattress with a reasonable price, consider the Eco-Terra.
If you’re a heavy sleeper, an eco-friendly mattress will be ideal for you. Depending on your personal preferences, you can choose between two firmness levels. Those who sleep lightly will probably want to go for a softer mattress. On the other hand, if you suffer from backaches, this bed may be a great option for you. Many backaches are caused by sleeping on the wrong bed, so finding a firmer mattress will eliminate the cause.
An eco-friendly mattress should be durable and comfortable for all types of sleepers. The latex and fabric edge support will keep you from sagging. The mattress’ firmness will also be appropriate for all sleep positions. You can get the right level of support with the eco-terraced 11-inch luxury latex foam mattress. And the company also provides free shipping and installation service, so it’s easier than ever to purchase a high-quality mattress.
Eco Terra Mattress Review Sleepopolis
The Eco Terra is a medium-firm foam bed that’s built with latex and a plush cover. The mattress is designed to reduce motion transfer and is temperature neutral. It also has pocketed coils and steel springs around the perimeter to promote edge support. It ships compressed and is easy to unroll. It also offers a 2 month trial and a full refund if you’re not happy.
The Eco Terra is made with 100% natural Talalay latex, a softer form of the popular Dunlop latex. Its medium firmness provides contouring and gentle cradle support. It also promotes neutral spinal alignment. It’s a good choice for couples who want a medium-firm mattress with supportive features. However, there are a few downsides to this type of mattress.
The Eco Terra mattress has many benefits for couples. It’s made from organic materials and is a good choice for those who want to sleep green. It’s made in the USA, is very affordable, and is made with natural materials. It also comes at two firmness levels. The medium-firm option is very comfortable, combining the springiness of small coils and pressure-relieving latex foam.
Side sleepers need a conforming surface for a comfortable night’s sleep. They’re often pushed into the mattress, and it’s important to have a mattress that is supportive. A mattress with a three-inch layer of latex will conform to the body’s shape and relieve pressure points. The latex also helps regulate temperature, so the Eco Terra is comfortable for heavier individuals. This mattress is a good choice for side sleepers.
Eco Terra Mattress Topper Review
The Eco Terra Mattress Topper is a combination of pocket coils and latex. The latex pushes back into pressure points on the body, creating support in gaps where the body forms. The memory foam provides reactive support to prevent movement transfer, and the latex wicks moisture away. The Ecoterra mattress comes with a great warranty. However, the price can be prohibitive for some. Weighing our options, we found the Ecoterra to be the better buy.
The Eco Terra mattress comes in two firmness levels: medium and firm. The medium is best for side sleepers because it allows you to sink into the bed, but it is decent for stomach sleepers as well. The medium firmness rating is 5.5 out of 10 and is the middle option. The price of this mattress is similar to the stander medium. It comes in two firmness levels, but the firmer one is more expensive.
This mattress topper comes with two firmness levels. While it is not ideal for light sleepers, it is great for back aches. Its breathable comfort system helps dissipate heat and helps you sleep cooler at night. It also has an edge support that increases usable surface area. In addition, it has an excellent warranty and free shipping. We hope you enjoyed this Eco Terra Mattress Topper Review!o Terra Mattress Amazon
